The Nurse Residency Program at St. Vincent’s Medical Center is designed to help New Graduate Nurses successfully transition into practice.
The purpose of the Nurse Residency Program is not to reteach the content learned in nursing school, it is to further enhance your critical thinking, confidence, performance and skills. Our Nurse Residency Program is guided by the Vizient/AACN Nurse Residency Program™, which is an evidence based program designed to help new nurses in the first 12 months of their transition into practice.
The supportive environment provided by the Nurse Residency Program gives you the opportunity to build relationships with other new graduate nurses throughout the hospital, become acclimated to our organization by learning from content experts throughout St. Vincent’s Medical Center, as well as engage you in hands on learning opportunities.
All licensed RNs with less than one year of experience will be enrolled in our Nurse Residency Program.
Our Evidence Based Curriculum is designed to:
- Assist you in your transition from novice nurse to competent professional nurse.
- Further develop effective decision making skills related to clinical judgement and performance.
- Provide clinical leadership at the point of care.
- Strengthen your commitment to the profession of Nursing.
- Develop an individual professional development plan.
- Incorporate evidence based practice into the care you provide.
