For orthopedics, St. Vincent’s placed in the top 5% of nearly 5,000 hospitals.

Joint Commission accreditation

St. Vincent’s Medical Center is accredited by The Joint Commission on Healthcare Organizations, the nation's oldest and largest standards-setting and accrediting body in health care. Joint Commission accreditation is recognized nationwide as a symbol of quality that reflects an organization's commitment to meeting certain performance standards. St. Vincent’s has received several certifications including:

  • Primary Stroke Center (1st in New England)
  • Hip/Knee Joint Replacement Program (1st in New England)
  • Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center
  • Advanced Certification in Spine Surgery (one of six hospitals in the country to receive this certification)

ACR Designated Comprehensive Breast Imaging Center

St. VIncent's Breast Health Center has been designated a Comprehensive Breast Imaging Center by the American College of Radiology® (ACR®). By awarding facilities this status, ACR recognizes breast imaging centers that have earned accreditation in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, and breast ultrasound (including ultrasound-guided breast biopsy).

Commission on Cancer® Outstanding Achievement Award

In addition, St. Vincent’s received the highest level of accreditation awarded by the American College of Surgeons’ Commission on Cancer, the three-year Accreditation with Commendation and the prestigious Outstanding Achievement Award. The Outstanding Achievement Award is granted to programs that have not only met standards set by the Commission on Cancer, but exceeded compliance ratings for all designated standards.

College of American Pathologists Accreditation

St. Vincent's David H. Lobdell, MD, Laboratory successfully met the Laboratory Accreditation Program Standards for Accreditation from the College of American Pathologists (CAP), considered the "gold standard" of laboratory accreditation.
