Trained Staff
Our specially trained staff consists of full-time neonatologists -- pediatricians specializing in premature infants -- and board certified pediatricians who work as a team alongside trained neonatal nurses 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We help each child grow stronger. We support you and your family so you fully understand the needs of your infant.
Keeping You and Your Baby Together
At St. Vincent’s, you and your baby are never separated on different floors. If your baby is in the nearby NICU, you are always close by. You are welcome to visit, hold, and feed your infant with a nurse and/or lactation consultant who is available to assist.
When getting ready to bring your baby home, we have a designated mother-baby suite, so even if mom is already discharged, she stays with us to care for, feed, and prepare to take her baby home.
Neonatology
Neonatology at St. Vincent’s is a subspecialty of pediatrics that provides medical care to infants born prematurely or to infants who become ill.
Whether a newborn is found to have a heart, pulmonary, digestive system or other medical issue, our specially trained neonatologists prepare them to recognize and treat such conditions in even very tiny premature babies. St. Vincent’s has made significant advances in caring for expectant mothers, especially women experiencing pregnancy complications.
