How are we doing at providing the best stroke care for our patients?
The Advanced Primary Stroke Center at St. Vincent’s Medical Center monitors rates for timely and effective stroke care, comparing them against other hospitals in Connecticut. Note: Higher percentages are better.

The St. Vincent’s Stroke Center team monitors complications related to interventions for patients with stroke. One such intervention is diagnostic cerebral catheter angiography, a common procedure to evaluate blood vessels in the brain and neck. It is used to determine if any of the blood vessels are narrowed due to plaque or to see if the patient has other blood vessel abnormalities like an aneurysm or Arteriovenous Malformation.
The preferred goal is to have peri-procedure stroke and death rate less than 1%. Between August 1 and November 30, 2023, our rate of peri-procedure stroke or death for diagnostic cerebral catheter angiography was 0%.
